Food and Accomodations
A fine buffet breakfast is provided at our hotels. For lunch, we'll stop for "walking pizza" or sub sandwiches and a can of soda. At noon the sun will be warm and high and we'll be able to sit outside and watch the strolling Romans as we enjoy our light snack. We might pack and occasional lunch with fresh fruits, breads, meats, and cheeses, found at local markets. Dinners will be in neighborhood restaurants. A pizza, salad, and wine will cost $7-10. There are plenty of fresh food choices at all restaurants.
Part of our adventure will be the annual visit to Frontoni's Pizza in Rome's oldest neighborhood, Trastevere. The Frontoni Family always welcomes our groups with fond memories. They bring out a sampler of their finest pizzas (including a warm chocolate pizza!) and some of their excellent beverages. Bernardo Frontoni and Chef Joseph will personally welcome us to their restaurant.
Hotels
We'll stay in clean hotels centrally located to the main attractions of Rome and Florence, the San Remo in Rome, near Piazza Republica, and the Pendini, near the Duomo in Florence.
Both hotels have friendly English-speaking staffs and fine breakfasts. The rooms are simple and clean.
