Packing Basics

We recommend taking U.S. travelers checks plus a credit card.  Major credit cards are accepted in most stores and restaurants. In addition, TYME and other debit cards are accepted in bank machines...check with your bank to make sure your card works internationally and to learn any special codes.  We will be able to exchange money as often as we need as there are many exchange offices throughout Rome and Florence.

Buy a MONEY BELT.  There are pickpockets in Italy and to be safe you must carry your passport and valuables UNDER YOUR CLOTHING tucked away in a money belt.  You may find the type that you wear around your neck to be easiest to get at when we are out and about.  There is additional storage provided at the hotels for safekeeping.

Pack lightly.  An overnight bag for the two-night trip to Florence would come in handy, as we will be able to leave luggage behind in the hotel in Rome.
